Celebrating Local Heroes: Eagle & Swinethorpe Parish Council Launches Community Recognition Award
In a heartwarming move to honour the unsung heroes of village life, Eagle & Swinethorpe Parish Council has announced the launch of a brand-new initiative: the Community Recognition Award. This accolade will shine a spotlight on individuals or groups who have gone above and beyond to make a positive impact on the local community over the past year.
The award, which will be presented annually, seeks to celebrate those whose contributions—big or small—have helped foster a stronger, kinder, and more connected parish. Whether it’s organising events, supporting neighbours, enhancing village life, or championing local causes, the council wants to hear about the people who make Eagle & Swinethorpe a better place to live.
Eligibility and Nomination Details The award will consider contributions made between January and December 2025. Nominations are open to all residents, and anyone can put forward a candidate—be it a friend, neighbour, local group, or even themselves. The council encourages stories of generosity, innovation, and dedication that reflect the spirit of the community.
Why It Matters Chair of the Parish Council, Cllr David Parkes, shared, “We know our village is full of people doing incredible things quietly and without fuss. This award is our way of saying thank you and letting their efforts be seen and celebrated.”
The Prize The winner will receive a commemorative certificate and a small token of appreciation, but more importantly, they’ll be recognised publicly for their contribution at The Annual Parish Meeting in early 2026.
